The Wing Shooter is a simple gun sight that will help you develop the lead and swing to hit moving targets. It is ideal for dove, duck, clay pigeons or anything you have to lead to shoot. Instead of guessing in the air where to shoot you put the bead directly on the target and keep following it through the shot.
The Wing Shooter has two collapsable wings on both sides of the barrel level with your sight pin. The wings have two sight pins along it to give you different range settings. The wings have three major positions fully closed against the barrel, half position at a 45 degree and a full position 90 degrees.
How it works.
The Wing Shooter is based on good solid math with the Pythagorean Theorem however we will not be demonstrating the math.
You place the Wing Shooter 6 to 8 inches down on your shotgun barrel and this greatly depends on the speed of the target you are shooting (example the faster the targets are moving the further back on the barrel you move it. ) Six inches back is a good place to start with the wings folded to the preset 45 degree position. As a target is moving to your left or right you will use your new pins of the opposing side. For example if the target is moving left you will use the pins on the right side of the barrel to shoot in front of the target and stay with the target to the ground. The faster the target the more lead you need so you use the outside pin. For more lead you move the wings to the fully extended position. (Example. At 6 inches back on a gun with a medium choke tube with the sight at 45 degrees you will have approximately 2 foot of lead at 30 yards and 4 feet of lead between the pins. )

Installation and instructions
All shotguns shoot and pattern differently depending on the choke and size of the barrel so for the first installation place the bottom ring 4 to 8 inches behind the main bead. The faster the target is moving the further back you place the ring (the 8 inch position) the slower the target place the ring in the forward position (4 inch). Not all brands will be able to place it on an exact measured position due to the ventilated rib.

Unscrew the 4 outside screws on the top plate and one side of the top moving wings.
Slide the bottom barrel wrap or snap on the barrel being careful not to scratch your barrel.
Screw one screw on the opposite corners of the plate. On some shotgun models it can be difficult to line up easily. You can use a small C clamp to compress the barrel wrap if needed.
Now screw the wing back to the plate and do not over tighten, it will need to be able to move just no loosely.
Try and keep the top plate level with your main bead and tighten the bottom screws to secure in place.

Lead sight tips
One this is a metal product you should try and oil it just as you do your guns Also USE lock tight on the screws. I have it on the screws when i put them together but after some use and being taken apart you may need to put more on it. Now I get that some people will never need this product some people are just good shots. Well I was not one of them that is how this thing came about. When people tell you to lead a target the first thing that comes to mind is how far. They say 2 feet your next question is how far is that 2 feet on the barrel or 2 feet in the sky. Well good question. After lots and lots of shots with my Lead Sight I finally have some answers. This will get you in the ball park on most guns. with your Lead Sight 6 inches behind the main bead. put your Wings at the 45 degree mark. now that two foot lead is on the inside pin at around 30 yards. Now if he is out there further than that you will need to move to the outside pin. But remember don’t be a Sky Buster you can’t reach them all. |
